How to Setup An Institute

PURPOSE: “Provide an opportunity for missionary leaders and interested persons on the local level to receive special training in the interest of mission and missions. . . [It] may relate to theory, organizational methods and program planning.” --Missionary Handbook (WBSC)

THE LENGTH OF STUDY: At least seven and one half (7 ½ ) hours of study under a WBH&FMC certified instructor must be completed by a participant in order to receive a certificate from the Woman’s Convention.  

THE COURSE OF STUDY: Should be designated, along with a recommended book, by the Woman’s Convention.  However, an organization may submit a suggestion for study and a book to the Christian Education Committee & Executive Secretary-Treasurer for review and evaluation.    

THE HONORARIUM: Is $200.00. We ask the organization to make the check payable to the  Woman’s Baptist State Convention or Woman’s Baptist Home & Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina, Inc and mail with the financial report.  

TO SET UP AN INSTITUTE: Complete the application form below at least thirty (30) days before the date of the institute to obtain State office approval.      

THE INSTRUCTORS: 

  • Are certified by WBH&FMC.
  • Accept only teaching assignments for the Woman’s Convention for which you have received an official letter of approval from the Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Woman’s Convention.       
  • Use the material recommended by the Convention to use.    
  • Know and share the program of the Woman’s Convention.
  • Speak well of and represent well Christ and the Woman’s Convention.
  • Make sure class attendance is kept on the given form for each class you teach. 
  • See that the certificates are secured from the office of the Woman’s Convention for persons who attend the institute for seven and one half (7 ½ ) hours.  

REQUIREMENTS TO BE AN INSTRUCTOR:

  • Pray always for guidance by the Holy Spirit and put on the whole amour of God when you are preparing for and doing all assignments.      
  • Attend the meetings of the Institute Workers’ Clinic and Leadership Training Conference.       
  • Attend sessions of the Woman’s Convention 
  • Study and learn (know) The Missionary Guide and Handbook
  • Teach the mission of Jesus Christ.
